Jazmine Sullivan

JazmineJazmine was a Philadelphia native was born and raised there. Her mother Pam was once a back-up singer with Philadelphia International Records. Her father gave her an opportunity to be the curator at the Historic Strawberry Mansion. She and her family later moved into the landmark. The 2005 graduate of Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts in which she was an instructor of vocal music. Sullivan played the contralto in the children's choir and was later a part of the adult choir. Sullivan did not get exposed to secular music initially. "I started singing as a soloist at church and a person suggested I sign up to record a gospel song when I was 11. But I wasn't prepared for that," she says. At that time, McDonald's held a contest for kids in big cities. I was allowed to sing "Accept the Grace of God" during The show Showtime At the Apollo. And the crowd responded very well. She was just 13 when she sang alongside Stevie Wonder for his grandson's birthday. Sullivan aged 15, was first signed to Jive Records. Sullivan was initially signed by Jive Records at the age 15. She was the producer of an entire album, but the album was never released. Sullivan was later dropped from the label. They had a strong working connection with Missy Elliott. Elliott produced some of her tracks such as "Backstabbers" and "Backstabbers," which was produced by Timbaland.
